Richard A. Sabuin

Richard A. Sabuin, Ph.D., graduated in 1991 from the Adventist University of Indonesia with B.A. in Theology. He then completed his Master of Ministry degree (2001), and Ph.D. in New Testament (2006) at the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS), Philippines.

 

His service in the Seventh Day Adventist Church began in Kalimantan Mission, Indonesia (1992-1998), where he served in various responsibilities including as a local church pastor, a district pastor, and an associate director of the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries. Then for three years he served as an associate editor at the Indonesia Publishing House (1998-2001).

 

In 2006 he joined the AIIAS Seminary as a professor, before he was appointed as the chair of the Biblical Studies Department (2009), and the Seminary Dean (2011). At the NSD quinquennial session, November 2015, he has been elected as the Education Director and the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director of the Division.

 

Pastor Sabuin and his wife, Paula Moniaga, MPH, have two children: Alef is now serving as an accountant at Japan Union Conference, and Richla is now studying in college, major in English Communication.

 

 

Kim, Sun Hwan, Director

Pastor Sun Hwan Kim is the Director of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty (PARL), effective January 1, 2019. He is also the coordinator of the Communication and Leadership Advancement Program (CLAP) as well as of the Adventist Laymen's Services and Industries (ASI).

 

Pastor Kim's ministerial career began as a local church pastor, followed by various assignments that include SDA Language Institute Executive Secretary, SDA Language Center Director in the Philippines, and the Associate Director of NSD PARL Department and Adventist Mission recently.

Pastor Kim holds a Masters of Art degree from the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) of the Philippines. He is now in Ph.D program provided by the Sahmyook University.

Ministry Description

The mission of the General Conference Adventist Service office is to assist to the Church in the proclamation of the gospel to all peoples through the ministry of Advent volunteers, matching their talents, gifts, resources, and professional expertise with defined needs. It includes both the intra/interdivision programs.
Therefore the Northern Asia-Pacific Division AVS coordinatorservesfor following ministries. It is to:
  1. provide a necessary policy and administrative coordination of the GC and the requested organization with Union Conferences in NSD territories.
  2. serve as a prompt reply to volunteers and faithful processing for Div approval
  3. trainand monitor AVS coordinators in Unions and Conferences in NSD territories
  4. check the insurance of all volunteers from Interdivision or intradivsion
  5. serve as liaison with the General Conference and other
  6. promote AVS marketing in SDA colleges and universities in NSD territories
