Youth Camps
in Korea and Mongolia
Visits to MWKC, WCKC, and ECKC Camps in Korea Pastor Joshua Shin, NSD Youth Director, and his departmental secretary, Mr. Yoon, Sung-Soo (John) visited three KUC (Korean Union Conference) local conferences' youth camp in Korea from July 27 - 31, 2003.
MWKC (Middle West Korean Conference) camp was held from July 27-30 at Janggok beach. About 130 pathfinders and 70 JAY (Junior Adventist Youth) members attended. Unfortunately the weather condition was not very good windy and rainy but all programs such as water-ski, jet ski, banana boat skiing, recreation, Bible quiz, cooking contest, and other well prepared programs were offered as schedules. All Pathfinders and academy students enjoyed the program very much.

WCKC (West Central Korean Conference) camp with the theme, "FUSION CAMPCADE" titled as "COME HOLY SPIRIT!" was joined by children, JAY, and youth at Gosung World Youth Jamboree Campsite from July 26-28. Total participants were more than 750 people including pathfinders, master guides, JAY members, and youth. The programs were very excellent and the campers enjoyed very much.
One thing unique and special was a prayer meeting called "Guerilla Dawn Prayer Meeting" for Pastor Shin, Gye-Hoon, Korean Union Conference President, who is fighting over his illness. The special event required three conditions: Number of participants should be more than 300; The meeting starts 5 a.m. on time without any alarm; Campers should come into the meeting place before 5 a.m. voluntarily. Finally timeout was announced and the door was closed. All of campers including a 5-year old boy and elderly deacons were greatly excited. An inspector happily announced that the total attendance was 319 and the special prayer meeting was offered for Pastor Shin. They had the chance to experience being a part of a 300-Gideon's Army with the power of prayer in that morning.
ECKC (East Central Korean Conference) held its camp meeting at the same site from July 30 to August 1, right after the WCKC's camp. About 150 youth members attended spending four days together. During the camp meeting, they had tried to find the true treasure which is Jesus.
With God's divine care and presence, three local conferences finished their camp meetings safely and successfully.
Summer Camp in Mongolia
The third Mongolia SDA summer camp was held from August 7 to 11 in a Mongolia government camp site, "Coez." Pastor John McGhee, Sabbath School Director of Northern Asia-Pacific Division, served as main speaker for the meeting. The camp site's name, "Coez," means "Switzerland of Ulaan Baator. Coez, which is three hours from Ulaan Baator, the capital of Mongolia, is so beautiful and peaceful with a river and some rocky mountains.

Children and adults of more than 260 Mongolian brethren attended the camp. There were three exceptional events: wedding ceremony, child dedication ceremony, and the baptismal ceremony. The wedding ceremony officiated by Pastor Dale Tunnel, Director of Mongolia Mission Field, was impressive to the participants, especially to youth members with the biblical principle of holy marriage. On the Sabbath, they had baptismal ceremony for 24 new members. As a result, the total membership of Mongolia SDA became 504. Pastor Joshua Shin took videos of the camp and every night shared the unforgettable memories with all the participants.
He also had several meetings with Pathfinder leaders to discuss on future plan for Pathfinder programs in Mongolia.
