July 19-23, a newly born Adventist church in Chaotun concluded evangelistic series by bearing wonderful fruits for the Lord. The event is the first one offered to the public since PMM Pastor Jeong Dae Seong had planted the church six months ago.
In spite of shrinking atmosphere brought by the typhoon ‘Hitang’, the evangelistic series was not withdrawn but finished more successfully than people’s expectation.
Worldwide media said that July 18 ‘Hitang(海棠)’ hit Taiwan, leaving more than 4 people dead and 41million dollars amount damaged. It was the biggest typhoon in 5 years in Taiwan.
However, amazingly the Holy Spirit empowered the Chaotun church meetings to touch the participants. About Sixty people attended the meetings, 6 new souls decided to receive Jesus and 3 among them got baptized. “It marks an epoch in the mission history of Taiwan. It is not a coincidence!” said Pastor Huang Jin Cheng, Taiwan Conference Personal Ministries Director.
During the meetings, Pastor Huang presented his sermons and there were strong supporters for the meetings. Just two days before ‘Hitang’ landed on Taiwan shores, a student evangelism team from Korea arrived at Taipei airport to help the series in Chaotun.
The Korean students’ group leaded by Pastor Ha Hyun Soo included 5 students who are majoring in Cosmetology & Beauty at Sahmyook Nursing & Health College, 4 students from Sahmyook University, and one church elder Kim who is serving the Sahmyook Nursing & Health College Church.
The 11-member evangelistic team offered a lot of services freely to students at Nankai Technology College and Zhang Hua Women’s High School as well as residents around the church. They attracted the local people with hair & skin care services and performed some Korean cultural things such as singing traditional songs and wearing a traditional costume, ‘Hanbok.’
“How much lonely I have been till now! I have been waiting with tears asking God to send even one new soul while only my family worshiped on every Sabbath. Now God answered!” said Pastor Jeong Dae Seong. “This is an Evangelistic Typhoon for Chaotun Church. I thank God for guiding the meetings by His miracle.”
“The result is much better than what I expected. Even I was told that the Nankai Technology College would send students to experience Korean culture at our college in the future,” said Pastor Ha Hyun Soo.
