Ceaseless Christ's Mission with Pioneer Missionaries in Japan: Tomigusuku Church Evangelistic Series

Will it never stop? Typhoon seems to never end in Japan making people always alerted. Of course, the Christ’s Mission will be ceaseless! Our pioneer missionaries brought a strong wind of the Holy Spirit to prompt a month-long evangelistic series in Japan, just around the time when ‘Navi’ hit Okinawa, Kanto, Kyusu area September 4-5.

September 4-10, Tomigusuku Church in Okinawa was flooded by people who were seeking for the gospel of Jesus every day. A theme was ‘True Happiness and Eternal Peace.’ As a good launch of the evangelistic series, the meeting at the Tomigusuku Church which PMM pastor Nam, Hyoung Woo has planted this year was successful and touched the participants’ heart very much.

The Golden Angels proclaimed the Jesus’ messages with graceful music and NSD PMM coordinator Kwon JohngHaeng delivered touching sermons to the audience. Neighboring Adventist church pastors, families, and members united to support the meeting with a lot of prayers and activities.

Suri Church Pastor Watanabe and Dr. Noris Matsumoto, Okinawa Adventist Medical Center President translated Pastor Kwon’s presentations. A 79-year-old retired Pastor Arakaki Saburo joined the activities giving a great spiritual impression to people sharing his wonderful stories. Pastor Saburo had been given a death sentence for a war criminal fighting with the U.S. during the World War II. However he was saved miraculously by the grace of God and became an Adventist Pastor.

With tears and spiritual thirstiness for winning souls, the Golden Angels visited place to place, welfare centers, shops, schools, and broken families, to shine Jesus’ Love through their Heavenly music during the meeting. “Do Angels tear? At least the Golden Angels have a lot of tears. There may be no tear of sadness while they work for the Lord. But there are love-felt tears from people who the Lord’s grace reaches through the Golden Angels’ music,” said Pastor Kwon.

62, 63, 72..., finally 83, the number of attendance has increased dramatically. It was too big for the 17 pyeong (56.1 square meters) church, and some of church members were forced to leave space for the new souls. How amazingly! It was reported that there had been no Sabbath attendees except Pastor Nam’s family since they started church planting this year.

Pastor Kwon shared a witness: “I am too excited to sleep because of this wonderful meeting. On the last night of the series, God sent people more than our expectation. A young man saw a banner, “True Happiness and Eternal Peace” on the Church building, and entered the church. He asked Pastor Nam, “Can I find ‘Happiness and Peace’ at the church?” The Golden Angels sang for him a song, ‘You are born to receive His Love,’ and Pastor Arakaki Sabbro suggested that all pastors pray together for the young man putting their hands on his shoulders.”

The never-ending mission stories will be continued following the Tomigusuku’s meeting. The 8 members of the Golden Angels were divided into two groups, four for each, and they will support the continuing series. September 11-17, Seto Church will hold a series with the Golden Angels and Pastor Kwon; September 18-24, Kofu Church with the Golden Angels and Dr. Jairyong Lee; September 18-24, Kinshicho Church with the Golden Angels and Dr. Tadaomi Shinmyo; September 25-October 1, ‘Shaking Tokyo’ Program with the Golden Angels and Pastor Joshua Shin (Dong Hee).
