Department leaders from all over the world discuss ways of advancing the church's mission at the General Conference based in Silver Spring, MD, US.

NSD Directors Attend GC Advisory Meetings

Department leaders of the General Conference and 13 Divisions had held separate advisory sessions at the world church headquarters in Silver Spring from March 10 for three weeks. They shared strategies, plans, visions for the next five years following the 58th GC Session in 2006.

Department Directors of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) participated in their responsible areas including Ministerial, Sabbath School & Personal Ministries, Public Affairs and Religious Liberty and Publishing Ministries.

Pastor Jan Paulsen, president of the Adventist world church told pastoral leaders that local church pastors sometimes feel disconnected from church initiatives that "come down from above" without their involvement. He encouraged those leaders to work toward making local pastors feel more connected with the global efforts of the church.

After the GC Spring Meeting and the NSD Mid-year Committee, also the Departments of the NSD will conduct advisory meetings with departmental and institutional leaders of unions and conferences in the NSD mission territory according to each schedule.
