Too Busy to Outreach?
---Third NSD Mission Day Held

Too Busy to Outreach? It is so easy to forget to do what God asks us to do, because of “Busy.” It has been 2 years since the Northern Asia-Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventists (NSD) began setting aside a special day as the NSD ‘Mission Day’.

On April 26, 2006, NSD staff began the Mission Day with NSD’s mission statement read by Dr. Akeri Suzuki, Executive Secretary of the NSD. During the morning devotional time, NSD President Dr. Jairyong Lee urged his co-workers to reach out to the un-reached with our special mission.

The morning worship time was extended to watch a video presentation on the “1000 Missionary Movement” and a Mission Day report from the Korean Publishing House by Pastor Kim, GilHyung. The Korean Publishing House started their mission day activities in 2005 and its workers were encouraged to practice the mission spirit.

“I am a missionary. The Lord calls me. I can do it!” The chant was echoed by all the participants in the newly opened church which is called the “Ilsan English Church.” It seems a prelude to the opening of a big vision for the Ilsan English Church which is being planted by the division families.

The Lord blessed this special day by bringing about 35 guests, including many different business people and neighbors, for lunch and cake in celebration of the day.

In the afternoon session, a literature evangelist, Mrs. Kim, YoungBong shared her testimony on her evangelism with the participants. It was followed by a mission report of the SDA Language School. Through the language school nearly a thousand new souls are baptized each year. Each testimonies and reports impressed the division workers.

After a discussion on how to reach and prayer, the NSD staff went out to distribute Adventist magazines to people in the streets, subway stations, and shops. Many experiences were made through this special outreach activity. When those stories were told during the following morning worship, they excited the staff and gave many ideas about how to bring more of our neighbors to Jesus.

“More than one day” Many participants recommended it. There were many suggestions for future mission day’s. We may need to set aside a mission day every Quarter. Outreaching activities should not be for one day only! “Every day should be” was mentioned at the closing session.
