Macau: 2007 Northern Asia-Pacific Division Midyear Committee

May 11, 2007 Taipa, Macau

In conjunction with the Evangelism Summit, the 2007 Northern Asia-Pacific Division Midyear Committee convened on May 11, 2007 in Macau. About 40 committee members from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand and the USA attended the meetings.

"From Words of Despair to Words of Hope" was the topic of the opening morning devotional presented by Dr. Stephen Guptill, President of Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS). Quoting Nehemiah's example, how he handled crisis, Dr. Guptill challenged the leaders to trust God's leading in times of difficulty. Armando Miranda, General Conference Vice President, presented the second morning devotional sharing the message of Bartimaeus, a blind man begging Jesus, “Master, I want to regain my sight.” Pastor Miranda emphasized that this should be our desire: to ask God to change our attitude, our mindset towards the challenges and to see God’s leading and blessings.

The major agenda items for the two-day committee meetings included reports from various projects - Tell the World, the Pioneer Mission Movement and the K-Project.  A new proposal for the His Hands project called “HIS HANDS MISSION MOVEMENT (HHMM)” was presented by Dr. Jairyong Lee, President of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division. The proposal was approved after hearing the comments and responses from the committee members.
