Chinese Ministries Convention in Hong Kong

The 8th Chinese Ministries Convention was held at Hong Kong Adventist College, Hong Kong on October 19-20, 2011. The Theme for this year’s convention was “Revival and Reformation of the Chinese Ministries”.

More than 50 participants representing the global Chinese Ministries’ organizations joined the convention including leaders from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, USA, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. The objectives of this Convention were, to expand the Global Chinese Ministries and to setup a Resource Pool or Sharing Platform for the Chinese Ministries.

The speaker for the two-day morning devotion was Mark Finley, Assistant to the President of the General Conference. He challenged the participants to overcome barriers for spiritual leadership, to see the doors of opportunity and to see beyond their limitations. The message was very timely and relevant to the needs of Chinese Ministries today.

Many reports were given and three workshops were conducted (1. Problems and Needs; 2. Brainstorming: How to meet the needs; 3. Action Plan and Time-line). The participants were divided into 5 groups (Media Ministries, Education & Training, Church Growth & Evangelism, Chinese Ministries for Overseas and Chinese Ministries in China). The reports were well presented and recorded for future development of plans.

The Convention was concluded with a final message and dedication prayer from Mark Finley. The next Convention will be held in 2013.
